Youth Advocacy Nepal (YAN) is a dynamic, youth-driven organization established in 2013 by a dedicated group of young activists committed to social change. Registered with the District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC), YAN works to advance democracy, human rights, and the empowerment of youth and marginalized groups. Through advocacy, awareness campaigns, capacity-building programs, strategic partnerships, and evidence-based research, the organization strives to create meaningful societal impact and drive progressive transformation.
As an intern, I likely gained hands-on experience in advocacy campaigns, community engagement, and project implementation. My role may have included assisting in research, organizing awareness programs, and collaborating with marginalized communities. Transitioning into a volunteer, I further demonstrated my commitment by dedicating an additional year to YAN’s initiatives. In this capacity, I have taken on more responsibilities—such as mentoring new interns, coordinating events, or contributing to policy discussions—while strengthening my skills in leadership and social activism. During my time with the organization, I actively supported YAN’s mission of promoting democracy, human rights, and youth empowerment. So, mine 1.5-year association with YAN reflects my passion for social change and aligns with the organization’s goals of fostering youth participation and equitable development in Nepal.
I served in the NOC Transmission Department at Nepal Telecom as part of the 4G Network Expansion Project in collaboration with CCSI (China Communication Services International). My key duties included real-time surveillance of network performance, promptly identifying and troubleshooting transmission faults such as fiber cuts, signal degradation, or equipment failures. I worked closely with field engineers and cross-functional teams to resolve issues, minimizing downtime and optimizing network reliability. Additionally, I assisted in capacity planning, alarm management, and performance reporting, ensuring compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs). My technical expertise in transmission technologies, along with my ability to coordinate between CCSI and Nepal Telecom teams, contributed to the successful rollout and stabilization of Nepal Telecom’s 4G infrastructure. My work played a crucial role in enhancing network efficiency and delivering high-quality mobile broadband services to end-users.
